Egg-laying of the Endemic Jewel Beetle
The spawning season is already over, but please take a look at the egg-laying of the glossy surface with beautiful green color of the Ogasawara-tamamushi (Chrysochroa holstii) which is endemic to the Bonin (Ogasawara) Islands and designated as a national natural monument.
Males fly to the females perched on leaves to mate. And then females insert their oviduct into cracks and fissures in trees to lay eggs.
