School of Japanese scaled sardine

Appearance of school of Japanese scaled sardine by the shore is a summer feature of the island.

小笠原の夏の風物詩
この時期、島のどこかの海岸の浅瀬に集まるコイワシの群れ。

水中マスクを着けて群れの中に泳いでいくと、群れはドーナツ状に広がり、ぽつんと空いた輪っかの中心にいる自分の周りをキラキラと輝く小魚がグルグル泳ぐ不思議な空間ができあがります。
