Japan’s earliest beach opening ceremony 日本一早い海びらき

The beach opened to sea bathers on the new year's day in subtropical the Bonin Islands. It’s the earliest beach opening ceremony in Japan.
The rain from New Year's Eve stopped at dawn. However, thick clouds spread in the sky and we could not worship the first sunrise of the year. But the sun appeared before the event and beach opening ceremony started with good condition.
This winter is warmer than usual and the seawater temperature is still around 24 degree Celsius, so if it’s sunny and the north wind is not strong, you can still swim in bathing suit.


亜熱帯の島・小笠原では元旦に「日本一早い海びらき」が行われます。
大晦日からの雨も明け方には止みましたが、空には厚い雲が広がり初日の出は拝めませんでしたが、イベントが始まる頃には太陽も顔を出し、海開き日和となりました。
今冬は例年より暖かく海水温もまだ２４℃ほどあるので、晴れていて北風が強くなければまだ水着でも泳げます。
