おかえりモッチーニ！ Welcome back “Mocchini”

最近、小笠原で一番有名なメスクジラの「モッチーニ」目撃情報がSNS等でアップされていましたが、昨日やっと「モッチーニ」に会うことができました。
モッチーニは尾びれの右側に特徴的な丸い欠損があるので、遠くからでも直ぐに分かります。

故・望月氏によって生まれ年のモッチーニが撮影されたのが1992年。小笠原の海で誕生してから今年で３１年、ほぼ毎年のように小笠原の海に戻ってきています。そして今年は赤ちゃんを連れています。

There are some eyewitness report of the most famos female Humpback whale “Mocchini” in Ogasawara recently. I was finally able to encounter "Mocchini" yesterday.
“Mocchini” is easily recognizable even from a distance due to the characteristic rounded defect on the right side of her giant tail fin.

Mocchini was born in 1992 and photographed in the same year by the late Mr. Mochizuk very first timei. “Mocchini” has been returning to Ogasawara almost every single year since she was born for 31 years, and she is with her calf this season.
