アオウミガメの産卵シーズン Spawning season of the Green Turtle

雨季もそろそろ終わり夏が始まった小笠原では、アオウミガメの産卵の季節が始まっています。
先日の夜もビーチに行くとメスのアオウミガメがちょうど海から上陸をするところでした。
ビーチの休憩所で静かに観察していると、一直線にこちらに向かって来ます。大きな段差もものともせずに登り、休憩所の柵にぶつかったところで穴を掘り始め産卵を始めました。
木の根があったり、穴を掘りにくかったりと、何箇所も場所を替えるカメもいますが、このメスのアオウミガメはこの場所が気に入ったのか一気に穴を掘り無事に産卵を終えました。

The rainy season is about to end and summer has begun here in Ogasawara. And the season of Green Turtles to lay eggs has begun.
When I went to the beach the other night, a female Green Turtle was just about to come ashore.
When we observe quietly at the beach resting place, she came in a straight line towards us. She climbed up the big step and hit the fence of the resting place. I thought that she would change the place to lay eggs. However, she started digging a hole and laying eggs.
Some turtles change places a few times due to tree roots or difficulty digging holes, but this female Green Turtle seems to have liked this place and dug a hole at once and finished laying eggs safely.
